This Year's Model Updates:

The power rear hatch is now standard on all models, as is wood and leather trim for the shift knob and steering wheel. The power passenger seat is upgraded from four-way to eight-way while the optional navigation system gets Bluetooth capability and voice actuated control. Last year's standard six-disc CD changer moves to the options list, making way for a standard single-CD setup.

Pros:
  • Well-appointed interior, rides more like a sedan than an SUV, loaded with high-tech features, solid reputation for reliability, excellent dealer service.
Cons:
  • Less powerful than some of its competitors, soft ride makes for merely adequate handling in corners, no third-row seat option.

This SUV is great fun to drive. The only negative is a blind spot on the sides. If you are extremely short, like I am, this is alittle troublesome when changing lanes.

I like the feel of driving it... it is a comfortable ride that feels more like a car than a truck.. as some SUVs do. Decent amount of loading space for most items.

  • Great car, but ....... - 2005 Lexus RX 330

This is a great car, but underpowered. And dont buy it if you care about gas mileage. My biggest complaint however is with the navigation system. It does a poor job of routing often recommending roads that dont exist. Finding destinations is inconvenient. Not being able to operate it while moving makes it almost useless in many circumstances, when there is more than just one person in the car. Our other car has a Garmin that plugs into the lighter, and while not as pretty it is MUCH, MUCH better. I can look for restaurants or gas stations while driving, and we dont have to pull over. BTW, the Bluetooth doesnt always work either.

  • A van in SUV clothing - 2005 Lexus RX 330

The RX 330 is a great vehicle for running errands around town. It is extremely comfortable and its looks are eye-catching. Load carrying capacity is limited by the sharply angled rear door. It doesnt hold as much as you would expect for an SUV. On the highway, it handles like a mini- van. The car-based construction makes for a too soft, underpowered ride. With cruise control on, the engine constantly downshifts at the slightest rise in the road, such as going over a bridge. Definitely needs stiffer suspension and more power.

  • Not that great! - 2005 Lexus RX 330

The issues with my car: the rear door wouldnt open with the remote, the roof rack wouldnt move back and forth, the leather under the head rest was torn, the wiper mist was not working. They dont charge me for fixing these issues. But my understanding is that some of these issues are not supposed to be issues because they are supposed to get inspected before they certify it. So I guess you can not really believe the Lexus certification process. Also the rear door issue seems to be a recurring issue. It still wouldnt open some times after 3 attempts to fix this.

Love to drive, love the design, had problems w/ tires & radiator, so many features in the cargo/ truck area, like first aid kit. You dont close the trunk it automatically does it for you. The sound sytems is great. The leather is very soft. Overall, it was the best car I ever bought in my lifetime.

  • Looks nice at first but..... - 2005 Lexus RX 330

My 2004 RX330 had 20k miles and was LEXUS CERTIFIED. I owned the vehicle approx 70 day of this over 35 days were spent in the shop. The dealership was nice and offered to replace it with a new one "of course for MORE MONEY". I was assured that this was an "out of the ordinary situation" WRONG! My 2005 Rx330 still has a rattling sound in the rear drivers 1/4 panel at highway speeds (70+), after dealing with the dealer for several months I finally took some fishing string and wrapped it around the flemsy plastic clamp to stop the rattlle. It also has a nagging delay when accelerating from near stop (this is only on AWD vehicles). A 2WD loaner and it drove ok.

RX 330 is bought by women. Why did they have to make it higher than the 300? Cant hear directional signals when on (safety hazard.) Blind spots on both sides right & left rear. Gas filler hole too high. Map pocket redesigned to be useless. Cant open remote hatchback when car is locked--need 2 hands to silde back trunk cover (has latches). Guidance sys- seeing reverse usless-needs beeper system-300 guid/sys much easer to work. Climate control/blower to powerful at lowest setting/have to look constantly at screen to change settings/remote starter when on-cant unlock car doors.

  • Blind spots - 2005 Lexus RX 330

I love everything about this car, except the design of the back creates large blind spots when looking back and to the side. This is confounded by the drivers headrest further visually blocking the small windows between the back and sides of the car. This creates pretty thick spots where you cant easily see what is behind you and to the side.

  • Love my RX! - 2005 Lexus RX 330

This car feels safe, is comfortable, and has a lot of features I never thought about before, but cant live without now. Overall though, its my favorite car out of the ones Ive had, and Ill be driving Lexus in the future.
